It’s been a little while since I’ve been blogging. A lot has happened during the past months – yup, let’s not forget Corona – and only now do I feel energized again to write over here.
So, let’s start off with the biggest thing that stumbled upon my path recently: I got to shoot with TopVintage! I still find it hard to believe as I’m writing this down! I thought it would be fun to show you how that day went.
The TopVintage studio is a 1 hour 15 min drive from where we live, which is very doable, but would mean a very early morning if I have to do hair & makeup and drive up there all before 9 am. So we stayed at an hotel close by. I say ‘we’ as I got to bring my husband with me on this exciting day.
At 9:30 am, it was shooting time. Upon entering the studio, everything got real: there were racks with my name on it, filled with the clothing I had to model.
As this was my first commercial/professional shoot, I had the best inspiration to look up to: Vanessa Frankenstein – aka the Meadow Elf on Instagram. Vanessa modelled the first two items, so I could get a better view of how things worked. And then it was my turn! Of course I was a little nervous. But wearing such pretty outfits, feeling all glam in those studio lights and getting encouraged by such a sweet team of photographers made it all go so smooth and naturally.
The part I had to adapt to was the tempo. Once the photography team think they have thé shot, it’s onto the next outfit. But I got the hang of it quickly enough. And like that, hours flew by and it was already lunch time. TopVintage really took care of everything: they provided an amazing vegan lunch with falafels, hummous, breads, vegan cheese, greens, couscous salads, grilled veggies, coconut yoghurt and fruits. I felt like I was going to need a size up after all these yummies – luckily I didn’t have to.
After lunch break, it was back to shooting outfits & accessories and making some promo material for the TopVintage store, which you can visit in Kerkrade, in the same building as the studio and all other TopVintage facilities. Some goofing around in between shots kept the spirits so high and really lowered the bar – the TopVintage ladies made sure I never felt nervous. The day flew by way too quickly!
For all of you who think otherwise: modeling is pretty intense! A whole day up on your feet, changing into 50ish looks, adjusting hair & makeup in between, pulling out your best poses and faces. So, at the end of the day when we arrived back home, I was pretty tired. But very, VERY satisfied and happy.
I am so grateful for this opportunity and hope there may be a next time.
Since this was a different kind of post than my usual reviews, tips & tricks or outfit round ups, it would be very helpful if you could fill in this poll:
