I prefer wearing full skirts and dresses, but more often nowadays I like to go for a casual look with a pair of jeans. It might seem like a hard task to find jeans that are both flattering and fitting as well as vintage-style. Luckily, I’ve found a few brands that offer amazing authentic looking jeans for your casual days.
Vivien of Holloway
Vivien of Holloway offers a range of trousers and their Katharine trousers include this denim number. The Katherine trousers are a great 1940s-inspired style with wide legs. The trousers close with the 4 buttons on the side, that add a nice authentic detail to the piece as well. The trousers have one small functional pocket on the front. The denim Katharine trousers comes with rolled up legs for that workwear look.
The Katharine trousers in denim retail at 75 GBP at the Vivien of Holloway website. Vivien of Holloway have their own sizing system. The Katharine trousers runs from waist 24” and hips 36” up to waist 38” hips 50”. I’m 1.63 m and with heels on the trousers are just a pinch from touching the floor. The pre-rolled legs are rolled up 3 times, measuring 40”/102 cm in length. But if you’re taller, you can unroll them. Completely unrolled, the legs measure 45.75”/116 cm in total.
I love wearing my denim Katharine trousers with a blouse or puff sleeve knitwear, when I’m digging a 1940s workwear-inspired look.
Freddies of Pinewood
Freddies of Pinewood are the jeans gods of vintage reproduction. They have a wide range of retro jeans styles, it’s only up to you to choose which style you prefer. This particular model I’m featuring here is their Soo Z Q. The Soo Z Q is a beautiful 1950s-inspired style with a slim leg. The jeans has 2 front back pockets and 2 back pockets with zips. There are belt loops included if you fancy wearing belt.
The Soo Z Q retails at 75 GBP at the Freddies of Pinewood website. The Soo Z Q comes in sizes 24” up to 36” waist. Freddies of Pinewood recommend choosing your jeans based on your waist measurement, the rest should follow without any problem. However, pay attention to narrow styles if you have a big waist to hip ratio. Freddies of Pinewood run very true to size, so definitely compare you measurements to the corresponding size chart for every jeans style individually. These jeans close with a plastic button on the side of the waistband, which can even be moved for a better fit.
I love wearing my Soo Z Qs paired with a fitting top and loafers when I prefer a casual 1950s-style look.
Lady K Loves
I’ve heard many pinups on Instagram raving about the Lady K Loves jeans. Especially their Hug Me Baby jeans are very popular due to their bootylicious fit, perfect for girls with a wider hip to waist ratio.
Unfortunately, I don’t own any jeans from the Lady K Loves collection – yet. So I can’t give a review of my own here. But you can surely find some good sizing advice and helpful reviews on their website and they are available to help you in case of any kind of doubt.
I know buying clothes online can be scary, let alone buying a fitting pair of jeans online! But I’ve found the two brands I reviewed here to run very true to size and – if it does end up not fitting to your liking – great in customer/return service.
I hope this post relieves you from your hesitation and helps you take the plunge to go for a pair of vintage-style jeans from one of these awesome brands.
