In the spirit of “better late than never” I’m finally sharing my review of the Vanity Fair dress in the ‘vintage roses’ print from Vixen by Micheline Pitt. I didn’t want to let this shoot that we did a couple of months ago go to waste and since this dress is my first item from Micheline Pitt’s collection, it deserves a review.
During our honeymoon back in April, we visited the Vixen boutique. I like me some floral print and although the store was filled with gorgeous garments, my mind was set on this dress. The rose print is an exclusive recreation of a 1950s fabric and indeed harmoniously mixes authenticity with a touch of Micheline’s trademark sassiness.

The Vanity Fair dress features a plunging V-neckline, very Vixen appropriate, but never provoking. The sleeves were kept very plain; no ruffles or puffiness. I’m pretty conscious about my upper arms and think the choice of these kind of boxy sleeves are very flattering for any arm or body type.
One might look like an old-Hollywood starlet, but you wouldn’t want to substitute modern technology of course. In the midst of the full circle skirt two deep pockets are neatly hidden to carry your phone and other necessities on you without any notice.
The fabric is a mix of cotton and spandex stretch sateen. You know when a fabric ‘feels high quality’? That’s what this dress feels like: a soft, ‘heavier’, non-see-through quality cotton – much unlike those cheap knock off dresses, where you feel like standing in your undies. The blend with the spandex adds stretch, comfort and movability. To emphasize the waist, the dress comes with a matching removable belt.
With Fall nearing in the northern hemisphere, I know the ‘vintage roses’ print might be on the bright side. However, the end of Belgian Summer time means the beginning of the Spring/Summer season in the Southern hemisphere. So I hope this review might be useful for my Southern girls or whoever is in to treat herself (or get a present – hint to significant other). Even more, the Vanity Fair dress also comes in another authentic ‘spider web’ print version. Feminine and a little spooky at the same time; great for Halloween!

Retailing at 148 USD/127,21 EUR, the dress is an investment, I’ll admit. But actually this price range is similar to many other retro brands and you’ll get a very high quality, handmade in L.A. garment with a lot of wear for that.
