During the Autumn/Winter season I partially live in tartans and plaids. So you can already guess where I am going… Introducing another checkered beauty.
The Natalia Warm Check Swing Skirt by Aida Zak for Collectif has all you need for a cosy Winter skirt. The skirt is of a thicker consistency and will keep you warm during Winter days, without being too heavy or rigid.
The design of the skirt reflects authentic patterns of suspender skirts that were popular in the 1940s and 1950s. The skirt is very high waisted, accentuating the waist with its wide waistband. Ending at the rib area, the waistband turns into the suspenders. From the waist down, the skirt flares out into an A line shape. You could wear it with a less voluminous petticoat underneath, but I prefer the skirt as is, for a more 1940s look.

The suspenders criss-cross at the back. Their length is adjustable with buttons at the inside of the back.
The skirt has 3 buttons at the centre of the waistband. Although these buttons are fully functional, the skirt mainly closes with an invisible zipper at the side. And good news girls: the Natalia skirt has pockets!
The fabric is mix of 70% Polyester 25% Cotton 5% Spandex, making it comfy in wear and easy in maintenance. Due to these materials, the skirt has some give when you would be in between sizes. I’m 27 inch in the waist and I’m wearing my regular size for Collectif, which is a UK10. I feel like there is some room left, but that could be ideal when opting to pair it with warmer knitwear.
For this shoot, I wanted to bring out the tan and teal details in the check pattern, so I accessorized accordingly. I went for a turban to bring out more 1940s vibes.
