If you’ve been in the pinup community for a little while, you’ll most likely have heard about the fashion brand Voodoo Vixen and pinup (role) model & blogger Miss Victory Violet. Now combine these two together and you get the most fabulous vintage-inspired Autumn/Winter collection.
Voodoo Vixen is a UK based reproduction brand offering 1930s-1960s-style clothing for any occasion at affordable prices. Last year, Voodoo Vixen did a design collaboration with blonde bombshell Rachel Ann Jensen, resulting in a seasonal line of 4 green/black plaid items, true to Rachel’s own classy style – the line has been restocked this year and expanded with a new red/black colour version. This year, Voodoo Vixen reached out to the ever so stylish Miss Victory Violet for another fabulous design collaboration.
When the Miss Victory Violet x Voodoo Vixen design collaboration was debuted at the Voodoo Vixen AW17 launch party I attended a couple of months ago, I knew I HAD to get my hands on these pieces. Truly, Miss Victory Violet and Voodoo Vixen are a dream team! The collaboration resulted in a cohesive monochrome collection of 5 seasonal pieces: a top, circle skirt, circle dress, pencil dress and coat. Today I am bringing the Céline Black Top and Bridget Tartan Flare Skirt to the blog for review.
I want to start off with the Bridget Tartan Flare Skirt, because I’m such a sucker for tartan and so is Ella/Miss Victory Violet apparently. Tartan correlates with Winter so obviously and brings you into the holiday spirit right away. As for her love for purple tones, many were expecting purple to be represented in the collection. But I’m happy Ella went for a grey-toned scheme, making this skirt so versatile to combine with any colour you want.
True to Ella’s 1950s style, the Bridget Tartan Flare Skirt featues a true full circle skirt. You can wear it with your poofiest petticoat or just on its own. The skirt is of a slightly longer length than usually: it measures 77 cm/30 inches in length, which with my 1,63 cm hits me at the calves. The fabric is of a soft polyester/viscose blend, easy in maintenance, wrinkle-free and super floaty; Disney princess-perfect twirls guaranteed. The skirt has 2 handy pockets and includes a matching fabric belt.
To match the skirt, the collection includes the Céline Black Top. This top is made of a stretchy viscose blend fabric, which feels comfy while giving a nice fit. I am always a little afraid with fitting tops, as I have heavier upper arms. But the stretchy fabric has quite some give and gives a relaxed wear.
Unlike a regular black top, an added interest to this top is the slight draping at the neckline. Furthermore, the top features decorating button details on the shoulders and sleeves and an elegant key hole button closure at the back.
I love the versatility of these pieces. They can be worn as one outfit, but combine effortlessly with any other items or colours you already own as well. For this shoot, I went with the monochrome theme and combined with black, silver and clear accessories, which I think would also make a great subtle Halloween-inspired look for the office.

The Céline Black Top and Bridget Tartan Flare Skirt come in size S-XXL. As for sizing, I went for my usual size S for both items and they true to the ascribed size guide. Good news for the curvier girls: Voodoo Vixen have now expanded their sizes and now include XXL as well. Both items are already sold out completely or in many sizes at the Voodoo Vixen website, but a restock is planned in October. The collection can also be found at several official Voodoo Vixen retailers, like TopVintage and Unique Vintage.
