I love to bring new brands to the blog and today I want to introduce you to Dariel Dearlove. Dariel Dearlove is the alter ego and soon-to-launch brand of Hanna, a lovely New Zealand pinup.
Hanna is a true vintage girl inside and out. She has several pageant titles on her name and even ended first runner up at the miss Viva Las Vegas 2017 pinup contest. Although you might know her from her (mostly homemade) pinup-perfect outfits on Instagram, she swaps her gorgeous dresses for work overalls and protective gear for her day job at a local quarry, still rocking her statement red lippy and winged eyeliner of course. Proving she’s not just a pretty, but a hard working lady as well. Her passion and hard work now paid off in the upcoming launch of her own clothing line. To date, Hanna has been making her own vintage-style attires and took custom orders ever so often. When she was asked to produce a collection for the fashion show at the Very Vintage Day Out, New Zealand’s biggest Vintage/pinup/rockabilly festival, she put her dream into action and gave rise to her very own brand, to be launched in October.

One of the items that will be in Dariel Dearlove’s first collection is this gorgeous floral skirt, that I’m happy to (p)review for you all.
Summer might be over in the northern hemisphere, it’s definitely not in Dariel Dearlove’s collection. Hanna’s own outfits are always full of sweetness and colour, so this skirt is not an exception. When I first laid eyes upon this fabric, I knew I had to have it! It combines my two favorite things in one print: pink and florals.
The shape is a true circle skirt, perfect to fluff up with a petticoat, like I did for this shoot, but just as pretty on its own. The waistband gathers all the fabric, accentuates the waist and creates volume to the skirt, which is what makes such a beautiful shape to wear even without a petticoat underneath. The skirt closes at the back with 2 snap buttons and a zipper.
Hanna is a true sewing talent – she actually started sewing at the age of 6 – and proves to have a lot of experience with custom requests! This skirt was made to my measurements – I asked for 34 cm flat – and the fit is a just dream! It sits exactly as I wanted: nipped in at the waist, without ever being too tight, and flaring out beautifully. The skirt measures 65 cm in lenght, which hits me right below the knee, exactly how I like it.
The ‘Dariel Dearlove’ label is coming out late October, with the official launch at the Very Vintage Day Out. The items will be available for purchase initially on Etsy under the name “DarieDearloveDesigns”, with a brand website to follow soon after. In the meantime, Hanna is still available for a limited number of commissions. You can contact her via Facebook or by email darieldearlove@gmail.com to discuss your custom order.
Thank you so much, Hanna, for making this dreamy skirt! I really enjoyed putting this look together, incorporating pinks and florals.
