Princess sparkles with B.A.I.T. footwear

Ever since discovering B.A.I.T. footwear almost a year ago, I’ve been eying on their pink sparkly Robbie heels. However, I decided to try out their signature Ida style first during a sale at Doll Me Up and see from there.  As much as buying clothes online can be tricky, I feel it’s even more risky when it comes to shoes. Especially when it involves shoe size conversions! So, unfortunately, my first B.A.I.T. footwear experience wasn’t much of a fairytale, as I picked a size too big for the Idas.

Insoles could more or less minimize the problem, but for that moment I was done with buying shoes online. Meanwhile, B.A.I.T. released their Robbies in a range of new colourways, including more glitter ones. The Champagne Pink ones ended up on my wish list. Then along came Black Friday, which meant 30% off site-wide at B.A.I.T. The little Barbie girl in me awakened, thinking this would be thé perfect moment if I ever wanted them. Again the hassle with the size conversions. This time I started off from the slightly too big Idas I already owned and calculated back which size would be fitting. I took the plunge and ordered the Robie heels in Champagne Pink, along with a pair of Regina heels, in size 8.5.

Delivery day. With a frightened heart, I tried them on… Perfect! Seems like the 8.5 is my size then. The B.A.I.T. footwear sizing tradition recommends to stick to your usual shoe size for round tip styles, like the Robie, and sizing up for pointy styles, like the Ida. This means I would actually need a size 8.5 for the pointy styles – as my size 9 Idas were too big on me – and a size 8 for the round styles. Nonetheless, my size 8.5 Robies fit me like Cinderella’s glass slipper. I guess much depends on the width of your feet and toes for their different styles. For reference; I usually wear a European 39 with my biggest foot being 25.4 cm. These Robbie heels in size 8.5 measure 25.6 cm on the inside.

The Robie heels feature a T-bar strap adjustable to fit any width of foot, rendering a secure fit – no sliding out with slippery stockings/tights. Upon the first trial, I immediately noticed the soft, slightly cushioned insole. Together with the 2 3/8″ block heel, this ensures a very comfortable daily wear.

I instantly fell in love with the beautiful glittery finish and colour. Princess perfect! The sparkles give that little extra to an evening outfit and are ideal for the holidays – I know I’ll be wearing these sparkly pretties on New Year’s  Eve.

Besides the gorgeous vintage-inspired designs, I also adore and admire the animal-friendly aspect about B.A.I.T. footwear. As hard as it can be to find that perfect pair of vintage-style shoes, being a vegan, it seemed impossible to find such a pair that is also non-leather. But I hit the jackpot with B.A.I.T. Like most of their shoes, these Robie heels are of a high quality man-made material, 100% vegan-friendly.

All B.A.I.T. shoes come in US6-US10, with half sizes in between except for US9.5.  More recently, some styles and colorways are also available in size US11. The Robie heels retail at $68 via their website and they ship internationally. For the European girls: I know Very Cherry (Netherlands) and Voluptuous Vintage (UK) stock a selection of the B.A.I.T. collection.
